Michael Sargent

Michael Sargent is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Bates who received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Ohio State University (1999). Professor Sargent specializes in social psychology: specifically comparing interpersonal versus group dynamics, stereotyping and impressions of race, and the impact of social category information on judgment/decision making. Professor Sargent is also an alumnus of the Bates Film Festival having premiered his documentary film Witchcraft Blue at the 2018 BFF.  Professor Sargent’s research has been published in several journals, including The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology (2007) and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin (2004).
