Lewiston

Lewiston is a short film produced and directed by Jacob Roberts and David Shayne that shows the relationship between the local white community and the Somali refugee community right here in Lewiston, Maine. After a huge brawl broke out downtown in Kennedy Park between the two groups, a white male was hit in the head with a rock, resulting in death. This film takes an in-depth look at both communities by observing how members of each navigate their daily lives and deal with the major incident that struck Lewiston as a whole. We programmed this short not only because our Bates community can connect to this environment but also because it raises important issues of social class here in Lewiston.
