Paul Schofield

Paul Schofield is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Bates College. Schofield has been teaching at Bates since 2013 and has become one of the most highly regarded professors on campus. His research focuses primarily on moral and political philosophy as well as the philosophy of film — specifically, the consideration of film as a philosophical text. Schofield’s work has been published in distinguished journals such as The Journal of Political Philosophy and American Philosophical Quarterly. His book-length manuscript on duties to the self is forthcoming from Oxford University Press in 2020. Schofield earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from Notre Dame in 2002, his Master’s at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 2005, and his Ph.D. at Harvard University in 2013.  (Written by Andrew Berg, ‘20)
